BIOGRAPHY
As an only child raised by well-traveled parents, I was introduced to art, music and tapestries at a very young age. I remember being eight years old and being excited to take painting classes in the basement of the San Jose Museum of Modern Art on the weekends. Afterwards, I would take a ride on the elevator up to the gallery and it never got old.
Whatever the experience, my passion rose over the years well into my adulthood and it stuck with me. I recall two major inspirations from my childhood being my teacher Ruth Tunstall-Grant and my high school mentor, Mike Ellner who took the time to teach me about life beyond the canvas.
As a native of San Jose, there was not just the artsy side of me. I played football and ran track all throughout high school. Later I went on to obtain my BFA at San Jose State University. I taught art to high school students and coached track for almost 10 years. Yet, like many in the Silicon Valley, I took my professional career into the technology industry, with the intention that one day, I would begin again.
Today, I have returned to my roots; back when my time was used to design, build and create. Painting, drawing, building requires a certain level of physicality and I put my “athleticism” into my artwork. My foundation and fundamentals are intact, with a nice patina to boot. My art comes from any angle, in any form that drives imagery, which I hope you can see in my work.
It’s always been about what I do, not necessarily who I am. I hope you enjoy my art as I share with you my heart, my soul, my inspirations.
